The mesoporous silica formed on magnetic iron oxide particles was used as support for immobilization of catalytically active Cs2H[PW4Mo8O40] (CsWM) species. The structural properties of as-prepared material was characterized using various analytical techniques; X-ray diffraction (XRD), fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), N-2 physical adsorption-desorption, and vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) procedures. The results showed that CsWM species was dispersed on magnetic mesoporous silica. Under mild reaction conditions, the produced catalyst exhibited high desulfurization efficiency in the extraction-oxidation desulfurization of model oil which was made of 500 ppm of dibenzothiophene in n-hexane. Furthermore, because of its magnetic feature, the prepared material showed feasibility in the catalyst recovery stage.
