A broad-band green emitting phosphor Li2BaSiO4: Eu(2+ )was synthesized by solid-state method. Under UV light excitation, Li2BaSiO4: Eu2+ phosphors exhibit a green emission peaking at 505 nm with a full width at half maximum similar to 61 nm, and CIE coordinates of Li2BaSiO4: Eu2+ are (0.174, 0.539). The critical quenching concentration of Eu2+ in Li2BaSiO4 was about 0.01 and the value of the critical transfer distance was calculated to be about similar to 26 angstrom. The corresponding concentration quenching mechanism was verified to be the dipole-dipole interaction. Li2BaSiO4: Eu2+ phosphor remaining 80% photoluminescence emission intensity at 100 degrees C and 63% at 200 degrees C with activation energy of 0.158 eV. Thus, This phosphor finds potential application as converted phosphor in NUV LED devices.
