Gastrointestinal symptoms, such as constipation, regurgitation and infant colic, occur in about half of infants. These symptoms are often functional, but they may also be caused by cow's milk protein allergy. We developed three algorithms for formula-fed infants, which are consensus rather than evidence-based due to the limited research available in the existing literature. ConclusionWe believe that these algorithms will help primary healthcare practitioners to recognise and manage these frequent gastrointestinal manifestations in infants.
