The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of solution treatment on the properties improvement of 316L laser cladding layer. Comparative studies of solution treated and original cladding layer were experimentally investigated on the wear and corrosive wear resistance. According to the regular detection, such as OM, SEM, EDS and XRD, the phase compositions of original and solution treated layer and the phase transformation process caused by solution treatment was correspondingly suggested. Improvement level of wear and corrosive wear was mainly assessed in light of mass loss. Wear and corrosive wear behaviors were suggested according to respective worn surfaces. Basing on above results, it proven that the corrosion and wear behavior would be dramatically effected by each other. What is more, the enhancement mechanism on the both of wear and corrosive wear resistance of solution treated sample was explained as the increased surface hardness and corrosion resistance.
