The Cl replacement reactions of hexachlorocyclotriphosphazene (trimer, N3P3Cl6) with carbazole-substituted diamine ligands (4-6) led to the formation of monospiro(N/N)cyclotriphosphazenes containing 9-ethyl-3-carbazolyl pendant arm (7-9). The structures of these compounds were clarified using spectral (FTIR, ESI-MS, C-13, H-1 and P-31- NMR) and crystallographic data. The crystallographic data indicate that the N3P3 rings of all the phosphazene derivatives have a pseudo mirror plane. In addition, the thermal properties of the phosphazene derivatives were also presented. All the synthesized cyclotriphosphazene derivatives exhibit high thermal stability. (C) 2019 Elsevier B.V.
