Fabrication of solid contact reference electrodes (SCREs) by three-dimensional (3D) printing using a PVC-based composite is described. PVC highly loaded with KCl forms the electroactive part of the electrode and is deposited on an ABS 3D printed base equipped with an electric contact made of Ag/AgCl. The reference electrode is characterized by very good potential stability in potentiometric tests as well as excellent performance in acid-base titration.
