In this work, the core-shell carbonyl iron/SiO2 (CI/SiO2) decorated reduced graphene oxide (RGO) was prepared. The introduction of the wave transparent medium SiO2 could make the EM wave easier to enter the material, thus effectively improving the impedance matching of the absorber. Moreover, the unique structure led to Debye relaxation, natural resonance and space charge polarization multi-loss mechanisms which greatly improved the attenuation ability of the absorber. As a result, the EM wave absorbing properties of CI/SiO2/RGO was significantly enhanced. The maximum reflection loss (RL) of CI/SiO2/RGO composite reached -46.43 dB at 10.79 GHz and the effective absorption bandwidth (RL < -10 dB) was 6.47 GHz covering the whole X frequency band. Meanwhile, the simulation results show that the radar cross section (RCS) can be effectively reduced by coating the CI/SiO2/RGO. Therefore, the CI/SiO2/RGO composite can be used as an ideal absorber in the EM field and aerocraft stealth design.
