The total lipidome of a symbiotic Zoantharia Palythoa sp., the first representative of the order Zoanthidea (Anthozoa: Hexacorallia), was studied to develop lipidomics of marine organisms. The structures and contents of 145 molecular neutral and polar lipids were established using LC-MS. Lipidomes of Zoantharia, hydrocorals, and reef-building and soft corals were compared. Fatty-acid distributions in Zoantharia lipids were determined. Molecular types of glycolipids and the betaine lipid of symbiotic microalgae of this animal organism were characterized.
