Production and characterization of co-composted biochar and digestate from biomass anaerobic digestion

David Casini et al.

Summary: Biochar, produced through pyrolysis of lignocellulosic biomass, has potential benefits for agriculture and carbon sequestration in soil. Co-composting biochar with anaerobic digestate has the potential to increase agronomic value synergistically, with specific biochar rates showing the best performance for further investigation. Reduced dust load from co-composting also improves safety and health during logistics and use.
