An efficient and simple protocol for Selectfluor-mediated phosphonation of quinoxalin-2(1H)-ones with dialkyl H-phosphonates has been developed under base and transition-metal free conditions, affording the desired 3-phosphorylated quinoxalin-2(1H)-ones in good to excellent yields. This method has the advatages of broad substrate scope, general functional groups compatibility, and mild reaction conditions.
