The electrochromic properties of V2O5 are directly related to the penetration depth of cations and the approachability of electroactive sites. In the present work, bulk V2O5 was exfoliated into two-dimensional nanosheets in formamide solution. Transmission electron microscope, energy dispersive spectroscopy and cyclic voltammetry were used to characterize its structure and properties. Our results show that V2O5 gradually drops off into two-dimensional nanosheets in formamide solution. The nanosheets exhibit good cyclic stability and fast response speed. Such a fabrication method is expected to be applied in the optimization of electrochromic performance of V2O5.
