The tribological characteristics of metal-polymer friction couples operating in braking units are studied under the production and laboratory conditions. On the basis of these investigations, we determine the dependences of tribocurrents circulating in the friction couples formed by grey cast iron and polymers in the drum and band-block brakes on the surface temperature in the friction unit and the number of braking cycles. The dependences of the dynamic friction coefficient on the circulating tribocurrents and of the degree of linear wear of friction couples in braking units on the tribocurrents generated in the zone of contact of two-layer metal-polymer structures are also investigated.
