In this work, the hydrogen absorption and desorption properties of a melt-spun Mg86Pr3Al11 alloy were studied using a Sieverts-type apparatus. It was found that the melt-spun Mg86Pr3Al11 alloy exhibits an enhanced cycle durability of hydrogen absorption and desorption. After fifty hydrogen absorption and desorption cycles at 300 degrees C, the capacity retention rate is about 97% and the hydrogen sorption kinetics undertakes only a slight degradation, which is related to the existence of PrAl2 and Pr3Al11 phases in the melt-spun Mg86Pr3Al11 alloy.
