In the present work, polyaniline decorated graphene (graphene@PANI) as an inhibitor container loaded with benzotriazole (graphene@PANI@BTA) was prepared and benzotriazole loading concentration in graphene@PANI can reach to 16.2 wt.%. The release experiment illustrates that benzotriazole can be released in a short time and provide an effective protection for carbon steel. Electrochemical measurements results show that epoxy coating containing 0.5 wt. % graphene@PANI@BTA has the best protection and a noticeable self-healing function. The corrosion inhibition mechanism of graphene@PANI@BTA is attributed to the synergistic interaction of graphene, polyaniline, and benzotriazole.
