H2O2 in the presence of TAPC (1,3,5-triazo-2,4,6-triphosphorine-2,2,4,4,6,6-chloride) as an effective and chemoselective reagent system is described for the direct conversion of thiols to sulfonyl chlorides. Upon reaction with amines, the desired sulfonamides were produced in excellent yields and in short reaction times. Mild conditions, metal-free process, and excellent selectivity are some of the advantages of this method.
