The exploration of bifunctional electrocatalysts featuring high activity and excellent durability for overall water splitting is of significance for producing high-purity hydrogen from water. Here, we report the facile preparation of bimetallic IrRh nanosheet assemblies (IrRh NAs) by a simple one-pot solution chemical method. Benefiting from the electronic structure effect of bimetallic composition and unique nanoarchitectures with abundant catalytically active sites and mass diffusion pathways, the as-constructed IrRh NAs can efficiently drive both the hydrogen and oxygen evolution reactions in alkaline conditions. Moreover, the two-electrode water splitting system composed of bifunctional IrRh NAs as both cathodic and anodic catalysts could achieve 10 mA cm(-2) with a low cell voltage of 1.57 V.
