This study explores the production of biogas from high organic content confectionery wastewater through anaerobic treatment. The wastewater was pre-treated with ultrasound technology to enhance biogas yield. Experiments were conducted using different ratios of kitchen waste (KW), slaughterhouse waste (SHW), and coffee grounds (CGW) as substrates, and the production of biogas was tested. Kinetic studies were performed using the modified Gompertz model and Logistic model. The results show that ultrasound pre-treatment increases biogas production. SHW as a substrate resulted in higher cumulative biogas production compared to other co-substrates. The modified Gompertz model provided a better fit.
The confectionery wastewater with high organic content was explored for biogas production by anaerobic treatment. A study was conducted by pre-treating the wastewater by ultrasound technology for an enhanced yield of biogas. Experiments were done in a batch reactor by varying the ratios of substrates like kitchen waste (KW), slaughterhouse waste (SHW) & coffee grounds (CGW) and tested for enhanced biogas generation. A kinetic study was also performed using the modified Gompertz model and Logistic model. The result reveals that there is an increase in the biogas production due to ultrasound pre-treatment. A higher cumulative biogas production was obtained for SHW as substrate compared to other co-substrates. It was found that the modified Gompertz model gave a better fit.
