This paper proposes a novel synthesis technique for discrete-time preview feedforward compensation via linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). While an LMI synthesis condition for preview control has yielded both feedback gain and preview feedforward compensation simultaneously in previous research, the proposed approach can derive feedforward compensation when a state/output feedback controller has already been designed in some standard way. LMI synthesis conditions for preview feedforward compensation are obtained based on H-2 and H-infinity performance indices. Simulation results of gust alleviation control using a research aircraft model are provided to show the effectiveness of the proposed synthesis.
