In order to solve the problem of pollutants remained in water after oil removal, the visible light responsive non-wetting BiOBr cotton fabrics were prepared through a simple immersion method. The material is not only able to separate the oil/water mixture efficiently, but also has the properties of visible light response degradation of water soluble pollutants. The degradation efficiency of water soluble methylene blue and rhodamine B were 98% and 97%, respectively. Then, the active species capture experiment demonstrated that O-center dot(2)- and h(+ )play a major role in the photocatalytic process. Finally, the stability of the prepared superhydrophobic BiOBr cotton fabric was proven using friction test, ultrasonic treatment for a long time, immersion in different pH value solutions and 6 cycles of cycling degradation experiments. In this study, the superhydrophobic BiOBr cotton fabric with photocatalitic property may provide a new solution for the treatment of water resource.
