Interaction studies of haemoglobin (Hb) with p-sulfonatocalix[8]arene (p-SCX8) has been analysed through UV-visible, fluorescence and circular dichroism spectroscopy. The Ch-pi, pi-pi stacking, van der Waals forces, electrostatic interaction, hydrogen bonding, hydrophobic and hydrophilic interactions may involve in protein-calixarene complexes. Binding constant, quenching constant, binding sites have been calculated from fluorescence data. The binding constant estimated on the order of 10(4) M-1. The key results can obtained from circular dichroism technique shows gradual decrease in alpha (alpha) helix concentration from 47.8 to 40.23%. It may be because of p-SCX8 being able to provide surface for the Hb molecule.
