Editor's note: As an emerging technology, quantum computing brings unique promises in creating a fundamentally different paradigm of information processing. This article reviews introductory concepts and building blocks-quantum logic gates and memory, i.e., qubits, for quantum computing and depicts the challenges as well as prospects associated with design, test, and fabrication of quantum devices.
