A series of vanadium calibration measurements for a wide range of incident energies was performed for the ARCS direct geometry chopper spectrometer at the Spallation Neutron Source. Analytical modeling combined with Monte Carlo neutron ray-tracing simulations was used to analyze the measured elastic resolution and flux dependence on incident energy at various combinations of Fermi chopper choice and frequencies. These data and model will be useful for planning experiments at ARCS.
