Microencapsulated phase change material slurries (mPCMS) combine properties of carried fluid and phase change material (PCM). Usage of mPCMS instead of water as working fluid has a lot of advantages in many industrial fields. This paper is a review of mPCMS thermal and hydrodynamic properties such as: specific heat, thermal conductivity, viscosity, pressure drop and pumping power. Also methods and materials used for mPCMS preparation are described. The problem of suspension stability and PCM durability is also discussed in this paper. Examples of present and potential PCM and mPCMS applications are described. (C) 2015 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
