We have reported for the first time the synthesis of mixed anatase and rutile TiO2 under 27 MPa in water at the temperature as low as 375 degrees C. XRD patterns show that the content of rutile in the mixed phase TiO2 is increased by 47.7% compared with the raw TiO2. The average particle size of the mixed phase TiO2 is increased obviously compared with the raw TiO2. Compared with that of the raw TiO2, the band gap of the mixed phase TiO2 is reduced to 2.94 eV while the absorbance is enhanced. Although the particle size increases, the mixed phase TiO2 still exhibits better photocatalytic performance. (C) 2019 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
