Pd, Rh and Ru doped cobalt oxide spinels have been prepared by citric acid assisted sol-gel method to yield nano-catalysts. Compositions have been characterized by XRD, FTIR, TG/DTA, BET, SEM, TEM, TPD and XPS techniques. Simultaneous catalytic detoxification of nitric oxide and carbon monoxide is investigated over the doped and pristine catalysts. Metal doping is found to enhance the activity of the catalysts due to their better adsorption capacity. Moisture and oxygen tolerance is investigated for Rh and Pd substituted catalysts. A probable reaction mechanism on the catalyst surface has been proposed. (C) 2016 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
