ZnFe2O4 spinel nanopowders are synthesized successfully by a simple solvothermal reaction. The X-ray diffraction results show that the ZnFe2O4 nanopowders with the impurity are formed at 700-1100 degrees C, whereas the temperature is up to 1200 degrees C, the pure ZnFe2O4 nanopowders are obtained. UV-Vis-NIR spectra study indicates that the optical absorbance of ZnFe2O4 nanopowders rises with the sintering temperatures increase. However, the energy bandgap of ZnFe2O4 nanopowders decreases with the sintering temperatures increase. The largest infrared emissivity is 0.970 when the test temperature is at 900 degrees C, which has great potential applications in infrared coatings, infrared insulation and heating fields.
