A novel approach of solar direct methanol reforming using localized heating of nano-catalysts is proposed. This approach utilizes the strong photo-thermal conversion features of nano-catalysts to provide heat of evaporation and a catalytic reaction, which can transform methanol to hydrogen. This work will open a new approach for solar thermochemical energy conversion in the future. More details can be found in article number by Yimin Xuan and co-workers.
