A new Mn(II) complex [Mn-2(L)(H2O)(3)] center dot (H2O)(4.8) (1) was synthesized via the hydrothermal reaction of MnCl2 center dot 4H(2)O with N4, N4'-di(5-isophthalyl) biphenyl-4,4'- dicarboxamide (H4L). Complex 1 is characterized by single-crystal and powder X-ray diffraction, infrared spectroscopy, and elemental and thermogravimetric analyses. 1 exhibits a uninodal 5-connected 3D bnn framework structure with (4(6).6(4)) topology. The magnetic properties of 1 were investigated.
