A series of new formylated-triarylmethanes (FTRAMs) were successfully synthesized via the Friedel-Crafts reaction of arenes with terephthalaldehyde or isophthalaldehyde in the presence of silica sulfuric acid (SSA) under solvent-free conditions. Subsequently, a series of new azines and hydrazones derivatives of formylated-triarylmethanes were obtained in good yields. The structures of all compounds were confirmed by elemental analysis, IR, H-1 NMR and C-13 NMR spectroscopy.
