Copper oxide nanoparticles were synthesis by sol-gel method using Lantana camara extract as a mixture of CuCl2 center dot 2H(2)O and NaOH. CuO NPs to be investigated by XRD, UV Spectra, SEM, FTIR, Photocatalytic activity. X ray diffraction revealed that they were crystalline in nature and the average size of nanoparticles was 17 nm as determined by Scherrer Formula. The photocatalytic performance of these nanoparticles was evaluated using methylene blue dye. The result showed that photocatalytic performance was 94.07% depending on the particle size of the CuO nanoparticles.
