Two Pb(II) coordination complexes based on 5-halonicotinic acids (HL-X, X = CI or Br) have been successfully synthesized under the solvothermal synthesis. Pb(NO3)(2)and HL-Cl can construct a two-dimensional (2D) structure of [Pb(L-Cl)(2)](n) (namely complex 1). The-Cl substituent is replaced by -Br on the HL-X linker, which can assemble with Pb(II) cations to construct a one-dimensional (1D) framework of [Pb(L-Br)(2)](n) (namely complex 2). The different structures can be successfully regulated and adjusted by different organic linkers with different halogen-substituents. In addition, complex 1 was investigated in detail as a potential luminescent sensor for Cr2O72-, Fe3-, and TNP.
