A portable electrode with approachable, available and simple processing is of great significance for the effective detection on-site in the practical situation. This work reported a new type of disposable carbon cloth working electrode (CCE), which was fabricated in large scale only through simple pretreatment without complex modification, and used for on-site detection of heavy metal ions Cd2+ and Pb2+ by differential pulse anodic stripping voltammetry (DPASV). The portable electrodes showed a wide detection range and the low detection limits, as well as the successful application for the simultaneous detection of Cd2+ and Pb2+ in real samples without mutual interference or interference from other ions. Better yet, the novel disposable electrode exhibited unique advantages of convenience, portability, reliable, low-cost and potential of mass production compared to conventional glassy carbon electrode (GCE), which may be an alternative advantageous choice for practical on-site detection.
