Graphene oxide (GO) coupled with inorganic-organic hybrid materials, from OD coordination complexes to 3D Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs) offer promising prospects. The synergic effects of these two materials can lead to enhanced or even new properties. The nature of the interactions between the carbon-based material and the hybrid one strongly depends on the synthetic method. As these composites bring more and more attention, this review aims at giving a global scope of the different synthetic routes used in the literature, as well as the characterizations and applications of such systems.
