As the driving force for technological innovations in the field of photovoltaic applications, metal halide perovskites have been extensively studied and significant research progress has been made in the last few years. Of particular interest is that with the addition of the pressure dimension, the development of the investigations has contributed significantly to the reliable detection of structureproperty relationships. Furthermore, recent discoveries based on new perovskite materials and new characterizations have led to resurgence in studying not only the pressure-tailored physical properties but also the pressure-driven novel functionality, including the ambient performance after removing applied pressure. We will discuss the manipulation, modification, and improvement in photovoltaic perovskites by pressure engineering, which is crucial to achieve the desired characteristics for the next generation of material-by-design, as well as various applications.
