A-Fe2O3 nanosheets were synthesized through solvothermal method and characterized by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller specific surface area analysis (BET) techniques. It was found that the reaction temperature plays a very important role in the composition, the size and morphology at reaction temperature ranging from 100 to 160 degrees C. Obtained results indicated that alpha-Fe2O3 nanosheets with size of 200 nm diameter and 50 nm thickness were prepared at 150 degrees C. To demonstrate the use of alpha-Fe2O3 nanosheets materials, a chemical gas sensor has been fabricated and investigated. The special structural characteristic of alpha-Fe2O3 nanosheet resulted in its excellent H2S sensing properties including high sensor response, low detection limit, low working temperature and good selectivity.
