In this paper functional relationships between bayonet-tube heat exchanger effectiveness (P), heat capacity ratio (R) and number of transfer units (NTU) for all possible flow arrangements are derived. Temperature profiles of hot and cold fluid are also given. Analysis showed that regarding heat exchanger surface eight possible flow arrangements can be reduced to four. Furthermore it has been shown which flow arrangements have superior thermal performances. Developed methodology was illustrated through the numerical example.
