Nanoscale metal-organic frameworks (NMOFs) are promising porous nanomaterials for various applications, such as catalysis, biomedical imaging, drug delivery and cancer therapy etc. Especially when it comes to medical applications, downsizing of MOFs into nanoscale is the crucial requirement. Herein, liquid-solid-solution (LSS) method was used to prepare nano Fe-soc-MOF for the first time, and then we integrated the as-synthesized nanoscale Fe-soc-MOF with polypyrrole (PPy) to construct a multifunctional theranostic platform. The novel Fesoc-MOF@PPy core-shell nanohybrids can be triggered by the 808 nm laser irradiation to produce photothermal effect for cancer therapy. The photothermal therapy (PTT) was performed both in vitro and in vivo. This work demonstrates the great potential of the MOF nanocomposites for cancer diagnosis and treatment.
