The silver modified graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4/Ag) was prepared by the photo-deposition method. The crystal structures, chemical structures, morphology, recombination rate and surface charge were characterized by X-ray diffraction spectroscopy (XRD), Fourier transform-infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), Transmission electron microscopy (TEM), photoluminescence spectra (PL), and zeta potential, respectively. The effects of silver content on the photocatalytic and antibacterial performance were studied. The photocatalytic mechanism of the g-C3N4/Ag was revealed by free radical capture. The results showed that the prepared catalysts had layered stack structure. The photocatalytic property and antibacterial activity of g-C3N4/Ag nanocomposites were significantly promoted by the modification of silver nanoparticles.
