In this research, amphiphilic amidoxime ether N'-octyloxypyridine-2-carboximidamide was proposed as efficient extractant of copper (both Cu(I) and Cu(II)) from the waste etch solution. The determination of its complexing and transport properties was investigated as a function of phase contact time, HCl, NaCl, Cu(I) and Cu(II) concentrations, as well as the O-2IA concentration. The effect of different diluents (aliphatic and aromatic) with and without addition of decan-1-ol on the extraction of Cu(I) and Cu(II) was also investigated. It was shown that using the three-stage batch extraction and stripping, more than 90% of copper was recovered from the etch waste solution.
