Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), constructed from metal ions/clusters and multidentate organic linkers via coordination bonding, are of growing interest due to their potential uses in gas adsorption, separation, and catalysis. Regarding the synthesis of MOFs, the past decade has seen a reawakening of mechanochemical synthesis (MS), driven by the search for new, cleaner synthetic methodologies. In the mini review, we will summarize the typical advances in the MS of MOFs over the last two decades. (C) 2019 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
