A practical approach for photoredox-catalyzed perfluoroalkylation of aminoquinolines with C6F5I(OCORDf)(2) has been developed. In this reaction, pentafluoroiodobenzene can be recovered and further utilized for the synthesis of C6F5I(OCORf)(2). Importantly, this strategy provides a practical access for the application of perfluorocarboxylic acid as the perfluoroalkyl source. A radical pathway mechanism is suggested according to the results of control experiments.
