Electrospinning as a form of 3D printing can be used to produce custom 3D fabrics and textiles. Various aspects of the technology are briefly described, as well as advantages this process offers over traditional textile manufacturing methods and other 3D printing technologies. The current state of Electroloom's technology and materials remains in a prototyping phase, and discussed herein are additional limitations in the current state of the technology. After a year and a half of development, the technology holds promise and is already capable of producing wearable custom garments, including beanies, skirts, scarves, and tank tops. Because this is an early technology, there is ample room for progress; however, this offers a look at what is currently possible, and what may be soon.
