A novel type of open-chain chiral chelating olefin bearing a simple monophosphite unit with a binaphthyl backbone was designed and synthesized, which could serve as an elegant chiral bidentate ligand in the rhodium-catalyzed asymmetric 1,2-additions of organoboron reagents to alpha-diketones and N-sulfonyl aldimines.
