Porous alpha-Fe2O3 nanospheres have been successfully prepared by a microwave-assisted hydrothermal method coupled with an annealing technique. The porous alpha-Fe2O3 nanosphere-based sensor presented a fast response, enhanced sensitivity and excellent selectivity towards H2S due to its intrinsic characteristics, porous structure and nanoscale size.
