Ordered mesoporous carbon-graphitic carbon composites prepared by the brick and mortar method were fluorinated using F-2 and investigated as cathodes for primary lithium batteries. The resulting materials have a rich array of C-F species, as measured by XPS, which influence conduction and voltage profiles.
