Poly(2,6-diaminopyridine) (PDAP) was synthesized by interface polymerization, a process in which the solid (NH4)(2)S2O8 was added quickly into a solution containing 2,6-diaminopyridine of equal molar fraction. The morphology of the PDAP prepared in this manner consists of spherical microparticles with an average diameter of 1 mu m, which is smaller than that of PDAP prepared by homogeneous polymerization. The PDAP synthesized by interface polymerization has an improved electrochemical stability compared to the PDAP prepared by homogeneous polymerization. Cyclic voltammetry was used to estimate the electrochemical properties of PDAP. The results from FT-IR spectra provided the possible structure of PDAP. (C) 2013 The Electrochemical Society.
