Copper(I) iodide catalyzed oxidative synthesis of imidazo[1,2-a]pyridines through CH activation of methyl ketones in water is reported. One-pot, three-component coupling reactions for the synthesis of sulfenylimidazo [1,2-a]pyridines have also been developed from readily available methyl ketones, amino pyridines, and diphenyl disulphide.
