A reversible ratiometric fluorescent probe was constructed for highly sensitive and selective detection of sulfites. Moreover, this probe can be regenerated for circulatory monitoring of sulfites through a redox-based tandem reaction. Finally, this probe was successfully applied to monitor the variation of sulfites in living HeLa cells.
