A ratiometric fluorescent probe for the detection of peroxynitrite (ONOO-) was developed based on a boronate receptor and intramolecular cyclization. It features fast response, good selectivity and high sensitivity with a detection limit of 35 nM. The potential in bioimaging was exemplified in Hela cells.
