A highly efficient route for the synthesis of symmetrical and unsymmetrical 1,3-diynes has been developed by Cu(II)-TD@nSiO(2)/DBU catalyzed homocoupling/heterocoupling of aromatic as well as aliphatic terminal alkynes under aerobic conditions at ambient temperature. The catalyst could be easily recovered and reused several times without significant loss of its activity.
